Chart of the Month: 2012 vs 2013
After taking a look back at 2012, we thought it would be interesting to look at our numbers year over year and see what we can extrapolate about the industry. For starters, we dug into email opens seen across the exchange by device, comparing January 2012 with January 2013. With all the talk of the growth of mobile its no surprise to see an increase in mobile email opens.
Smartphones saw a 5.5% jump across our exchange, while Tablets gained 2.5% share of email opens. Laptop/Desktop continues to dominate, while declining about 8% in overall share of email opens from 2012 to 2013.
Email is the #1 activity on smartphones and tablets, but its still a mainstay on desktops as well. The spread of mobile makes it all the more important that marketers are using cross-channel tactics, liks email, to stay top of mind with their target audience.
